Eraser Carving Class
Carve 3 erasers and make mini block print greeting cards in one session!
Learn to use use linocut techniques by carving rubber erasers, then ink and stamp your design onto greeting cards. No experience necessary.

What you will learn
Relief carving using special cutting tools
Inking and printing designs
You will take home your carved erasers and your greeting card(s) in envelopes!
What we supply for class use
All materials for creating and printing a block (tools, blocks, water soluble ink, cardstock, envelopes) + inspo designs
First aid kit just in case you nick a finger
What you should bring
Wear clothes suitable for staining or an apron*
A hand towel suitable for wiping ink & hands
Snacks
Water bottle or beverage
*Although the ink is water soluble and does wash off/out, it may depend on the type of fabric you are wearing. It's not a messy project, but it's better to be on the safe side and dress appropriately.
Other information
While the class is not dangerous, we will be working with safe but --sharp-- tools. Injury is not likely to happen if you are carving safely (which we will teach you), but there is the chance you may nick your finger. We will have a full first aid kit on hand if this should happen.
We also would appreciate your consent to use photography from the class. You may opt in or out. If you choose to opt out, please let us know.
About the Instructors
Leigh is a master metalsmith of fine jewelry and a master glass artist. In her spare time she hones her skills in several other arts, such as drawing, painting, inking, sculpting, and relief cutting blocks for printing.
Eris is a master fiber artist and art-garment maker. She also squeezes in several other arts in the same fashion as Leigh.
They can often be found together at 5 am dancing or working on art and fancifying new ideas.
